Who We Are
The Higher Education Recruitment Consortium is a non-profit organization with a central coordinating office and seventeen regional offices. The central and regional offices work collaboratively on HERC-wide initiatives.
The Central HERC office is responsible for strategic planning, new HERC development and consultation, website development and oversight, HERC advertising, public relations and brand development, data collection and reporting, establishing and maintaining partnerships, contracts, coordinating the Central HERC Advisory Board and committees, and other HERC-wide initiatives.
Each regional HERC employs a director who administers the regional HERC programs, website, and member activities.
The Central HERC Advisory Board provides governance, strategic leadership, evaluation and financial oversight of the organization. The Advisory Board consists of all regional HERC Directors as well as an additional representative that is selected by each regional HERC. The Advisory Board has the following elected officer positions: Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary.
HERC member institutions include over 600 colleges, universities, hospitals, research labs, government agencies, and related non- and for-profit organizations that ascribe to HERC’s vision and mission. Institutions join the regional HERC where its primary campus/headquarters is located. HERC memberships are at the institutional level and include an unlimited number of member representatives.
HERC member representatives generally hold interest in faculty, staff, and executive recruitment and retention issues and include chief human resources officers, chief academic officers, chief diversity officers, employment/recruitment managers, dual-career directors, and individuals with comparable titles.
