[WATCH] Expanding Career Networks
This webinar is an opportunity for members of the higher education, postdoctoral and research communities to learn about effective networking from an insider in the postdoctoral and postgraduate fields. We will dissect both online and in-person networking, an important component of successful career building at all career stages. Not only is it important to develop a network, but it also takes time to manage your network. We will dive deeper into how to effectively manage your network while balancing other time consuming academic obligations.
This webinar will also cover topics such as how to identify the appropriate career advocates, initiating interactions with these colleagues, and finally, how to build long-term communication with individuals who may enhance your career.
Presented by Dr. Lori Conlan, Director, Office of Postdoctoral Services, National Institutes of Health. Dr Conlan was a potdoc at the NYS Department of Health, before transitioning from the lab to focus on career issues for the next generation of scientists. She developed a career development program for graduate students and postdocs for the New York Academy of Sciences and in her current position at the NIH she assists the 4000 NIH postdocs in their personal career choices. Dr Conlan speaks at universities and institutions around the nation on career development topics for young scientists and is on the Board of the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA).
