Membership-wide meetings are a core activity of the Central Midwest HERC. Institutional collaboration is a defining characteristic of HERC and such meetings provide an opportunity to bring such collaborations to life. By bringing administrators, faculty, and staff who are involved in recruitment and retention at their home institutions face-to-face to discuss common challenges and share solutions and best practices, HERC helps build cross-institutional networks that members can rely on for ongoing support in their professional work.
In addition to the peer-to-peer learning opportunities, members also learn cutting edge recruitment and retention strategies from guest speakers brought in for these meetings. Topics range from all aspects of diversity recruitment, dual career and work/life programs, and search committee training, to social networking recruitment tools and how to measure advertising results to ensure optimal returns on investment.
The needs of members drive the format and topics for regional meetings. They range from half-day events on a specific topic to full-day conference with concurrent sessions for members to choose from and are always free to HERC members.
